The Olympic Rings: History and Arguments

Hi, I am Nina Andromeda Galaxy Milkyway bringing you news about the worldwide Olympic Games

We have a doubt about the Best Olympic Songs selected by me and the Divo Nicolas Sourivongxay. It's about the Green Color representing Oceania. Probably the Diva Mariah Carey gotta be upset but that song was not being commercial worldwide in terms of quantity of music players to be reproduced. Her beautiful song '100%' is only available on YouTube and on YTMusic. At the beginning it was thought for the movie 'Precious' in which Mariah Carey also starred as an actress, but the song was finally assigned to AT&T Team USA Soundtrack for the Winter Olympic Games Vancouver, Canada in 2010. The purpose of that song was to raise money for Team USA.

'100%' was written by Mariah Carey while Crystal Johnson, Jermaine Dupri, and Bryan-Michael Cox produced and wrote additional lyrics to the track.

When the Divo Nicolas Sourivongxay shared photos promoting the Olympic Games on Instagram or on TikTok that song is not available.

THE GREEN LIGHT

In 2023, the Australian singer Kylie Minogue released the song 'Green Light' in her last music album 'Tension'. Even it is not an Olympic song, the idea of the title is closed to the Olympic theme for that continent, Australian Continent or Oceania.

Musicians from around the world had the chance to create one of the best Olympic songs in history when Australia hosted the Olympics in Sydney in the year 2000 however, songs didn't reach the high level expected.

Good news for Oceania. The next Olympic Games after Los Angeles 2028, The USA, will be hosted by Australia once again and it will be Brisbane 2032. It's a nice opportunity for Musicians in the world to create not only the best Olympic song of the planet but also one of the best Olympic songs in history.

Up to this moment, the five rings belongs to:

Blue Color: Influenced by the French and English population in history, the Canadian singer Celine Dion owns one of the rings for the song 'The power of a Dream' created for Atlanta, The USA in 1996. She represents Europe in blue color. The blue color of the European Union's flag

Black Color: The Diva Singer Whitney Houston with the song 'One Moment in Time' owns the black color ring for her ascendency. The song was played for South Korea, 1988. She represents Africa. The black color of the black people in Africa.

Red Color: The Cuban American singer Gloria Estefan owns the red Color for all America Continent. Half Latina, Half American she sang 'Reach' for Atlanta, The USA in 1996 with a powerful support from Latinos with the Olympic Music Album 'Voces Unidas'. Indigenous in America Continent were called Red Indians by Christopher Columbus.

Yellow Color: The Divo Nicolas Sourivongxay born in Argentina but with asian blood created one of the best  Olympic songs in history in the year 2018 called 'Born To Shine'. The song was an attempt for Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018. The Yellow color represents Asia Continent due to their skin color.

Green Color: The Diva Mariah Carey owns the ring in green color for her song 100% created for Vancouver, Canada in 2010 however, she is not related to Oceania Continent. Until the right song for Oceania Continent appears in world Olympic Music History, Mariah Carey is holding the ring. Green evokes the forests, eucalyptus trees and pastures of the Australian landscape.

Nicolas Sourivongxay and I determined that if that special song appeares in the planet in history for Oceania Continent, the song of Mariah Carey goes to Red Ring Color sharing that ring with Gloria Estefan. Mariah Carey representing North America and Gloria Estefan representing Central and South America. Up to that future moment comes, Mariah Carey is the protector of the Ring in green color.

MORE ABOUT THE STORY OF OLYMPIC RINGS COLOURS

Those colors selected to continents is not officially determined by the story of the Olympic Games. On the internet and on Wikipedia the ring Olympic colors for continents were already assigned as aforesaid

The five colors correspond to the flags of the countries that participated in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm according to Britannica

"While the blue ring represents the European continent, the yellow ring represents Asia. On the other hand, black, green and red represents Africa, Australia and America respectively." The Bridge

" The modern association of each color with a continent dates back to the 1950 edition of the IOC’s "Green Booklet" in which it stated that “These rings represent the five continents, blue for Europe, yellow for Asia, black for Africa, green for Australia and red for America.” This was retracted the following year, but once again the association was made in the logo."
