The Music Industry in Argentina

Nicolas made a complain on Twitter about the music industry in Argentina saying he disagreed the way the registration was being executed in the field by organizations in charge of registration. 

On Nov 3rd, 2023, Nicolas made a request to politicians on Twitter 

1) Why two registrations with different prizes? 

2) Why one is not considered Phonogram when in both registrations it is mandatory to send the MP3 audio? 

3) Why doesn't AADI (Asociación Argentina de Intérpretes) consider the first registration as Phonogram that it was already registered with MP3 audio at Dirección Nacional de Derechos de Autor? 

4) Phonogram registration it is mandatory to present a physical CD in addition to the MP3 audio but there is a problem in the market. In the market, the factories and printers don't sell 3 CD'S (Requested by Dirección Nacional de Derechos de Autor), they sell 100 CD'S or more causing more expenses to the singer.  And 100 CD'S that none buy due to the new behavior of listeners in the market going to YouTube, YT MUSIC, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, and more.

Nicolas Sourivongxay asked politicians on Twitter to change the market towards new technology for an easy registration. Also on Facebook (Nov 4th, 2023)

Some singers such as the Divas Christina Aguilera (Nov 14th, 2023) and Mariah Carey  (Dec 9th, 2023) promoted their CD's including Vinyl's. 

Nicolas thought, the Divas were upset due to his tweets. Fortunately, Jennifer Lopez appeared explaining the differences between  CD's and Spotify by promoting her new song 'Can't get enough' (Dec 5th, 2023)

On Dec 4th, 2023, Nicolas shared this photo on Twitter saying he threw his cassetes he bought when he was younger because we're living in the world of digital music on the internet. 

"And @MariahCarey @xtina , I have CD's to sell but my market in Buenos Aires is different, different context, different path. My clients don't buy that

The market obeyed me 2 make 100 CD'S, I just needed 5 for legal registration. Access to @YouTube @Spotify @AppleMusic is easier" said on Twitter on Dec 16th, 2023

On January 21st, 2024 after winning the election the current President Javier Milei in November 2023 presenting a National Decree, one of the organizations is begging for nor disappearing. Nicolas has a membership at AADI (Asociación Argentina de Intérpretes) but he never received money from them in all his music career. And sometimes, they treated him unpolitly..

He never received money from SADAIC due to his performances because almost no one went to Nicolas Sourivongxay's concerts and/or he received just tips. 

Registration process should be easier in times of technology advanced than yesterday.

So, we got SADAIC, AADI (Asociación Argentina de Intérpretes), and DNDA (Dirección Nacional de Derechos de Autor). 

The following organization is in charge of the famous Argentine Prize 'Carlos Gardel' in music industry, it is called 'CAPIF (Cámara Argentina de Productores, Intérpretes, y Fotogramas) . Nicolas Sourivongxay never received money from them, either. 

This year 2024, in order to be part of the submissions to 'Premios Carlos Gardel', members registered such as Nicolás Sourivongxay, had to pay $5,000 Argentine pesos for each work. Nicolas only paid for just one work, for 'Phone Calls Tô Shine'. It's just a submittion not officially nominated yet and the Ceremony will be around June 2024 maybe. 

He couldn't submit his other three works made in 2023, 'Un Paisaje Navideño', 'Symphony 358: My Grace', and 'Rockinstrumentals To Shine'. 

In a fantasy world, this should be his nominations including those works out of competition.

There was just one time Nicolas Sourivongxay received money and it was during the restricted quarantine thanks to the Decrees of Emergency of the Ex- President Alberto Fernández in the year 2020. It also opened the chance to sing at local stages in public but that was not mandatory. For the first time, the municipality of Esteban Echeverría sent him an email asking him to sing in his town. Before the quarantine, Nicolas asked for singing in his town but he was rejected.
